Whether you’re travelling within the US or passing through, there’s a high probability that you’ll be going through one of the world’s biggest hubs, Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport (ORD). What’s the first thing you do when you land in an airport these days? You look for wifi of course!
I imagine you’re feeling the exact same way as I did when I connected to ORD’s free wifi network which just redirected me to Boingo where they expected me to pay for wifi. Pfft, I know how is that a thing anymore?
Doing a little poking around, kind of like what I did at Laguardia, I found a small little travel hack that doesn’t give you unlimited wifi but at least extends your life by another 60 minutes.
30 minutes wifi seriously?
When you connect to Chicago’s airport wifi, you get presented with this screen.
When you click on “Get Online Now!”, you’re presented with the *womp womp* offer.
Well at least they were kind enough to give everyone 30 minutes right? If you were like me though, I was still pretty disappointed as I knew 30 minutes would pass by too quickly for my 2 hour connection.
How to extend the free wifi by another 60 minutes
The secret is pretty simple. All you have to do is click on the sponsored ad that shows up on the bottom left corner.
