1) Loft at the footsteps of the Alicante castle

alicante airbnb in old town with view of castle

This is a beautiful penthouse loft that has direct balcony views of the Alicante castle that only gets better at night when the entire mountain is lit up.

alicante airbnb penthouse loft interior

Ideal for families or couples, this Airbnb puts you in the heart of the old city and close to key places such as the beach, markets, port, and of course the castle itself.

The host, Juan Enrique, is a superhost and all reviews point to a very clean, convenient, and spacious place to stay.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

What we like about it: A view like this is hard to beat. It’s very spacious, a cute loft layout and it’s great that it includes beach essentials. Location wise, you’re walking distance to most places and public transportation is not far either.

Why it might not be for you: It has 2 single beds which isn’t as ideal for couples. There may be some street noise on Fridays and Saturdays since there are nearby bars and clubs. There don’t have laundry facilities. Lastly, from an accessibility standpoint, the stairs to the second floor of the loft may not be for everyone.

Size: 4 guests · 3 beds (2 single beds and 1 sofa bed) · 1 bath

Location: Old Town, 5 minutes from the beach, 15 minutes walk to the castle, and steps from restaurants and bars.

Cozy contemporary is how I’d describe this Airbnb. It’s one of those places that you wish your you could design on your own but would take some guts to pull off. This may just be that perfect place to stay in Alicante.

As one guest put it, this place is “Pinterest heaven” but beyond that this property is in a quiet part of town that’s conveniently located 5 minutes from the Mercado tram station, 10 minutes from the old city and from there not far from the beach.

There are also a ton of restaurants nearby with the added bonus of adjacent green space.

The Airbnb is also right next to Plaza de Santa Teresa and the bull ring including Museo Taurino.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

What we like about it: Gorgeous property out of a magazine, extremely clean, spacious, with offer of allowing early drop off of baggage or holding your things if you leave the city past check-out. A pack ’n play crib is also included. The price is incredible for what you get.

Why it might not be for you: The open concept loft may not be for everyone. It is also on the second floor with no elevator so keep that in mind.

Location: Edge of the old town and next to the city’s bull ring.

alicante airbnb plus apartment double bed

If you didn’t know, Airbnb has a special group of properties that are thoughtfully designed, well equipped, and well maintained. These are exceptional hosts and personally verified by Airbnb.

This property is the best value Airbnb Plus listing in Alicante and when you review it, you’ll know why it has this special status.

This avant-garde apartment has elegant design and personal touches throughout the unit that has a nice balance of warm tones with modern edges.

Located on the 29th floor of an apartment, you’ll be given a special pin code to access the Airbnb and inside is everything that you’ll need for your days or weeks in Alicante.

Best location possible, bus and tram station nearby. Bus stop to airport is a short walk – Guest

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

What we like about it: You pretty much can’t go wrong with Airbnb Plus properties. We particularly like that you have the option to use a built-in washer and dryer which is great for those planning to stay in Alicante for an extended period. It’s also just as cheap as some of the others on the list.

Why it might not be for you: Designed for couples only so this will only work with group sizes of 2. It’s also not as spacious as others out there.

Iceland Bubble Hotel Review - Unique Stays

The tradeoff being that it isn’t as close to El Barrio (Old City) as some of the others, don’t let the map fool you. Staying here still puts in in walking distance to pretty much everything you want to see.

What’s unique about this Airbnb are those beautiful period tiles, the high ceiling, and queen sized beds which are quite uncommon in Spain.

Next to the bullring, the Castle of Santa Barbara and the Cultural Center the Cigarreras, you’ll love your stay here in this second floor unit with tons of period charm.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

What we like about it: Out of this list, this is the cheapest option so this is great for those more on a budget but still interested in a well-reviewed and well-located apartment. This Alicante Airbnb fits 4 (including a queen sized bed) which is a bonus and also has the advantage of having free street parking if you’re renting a car.

Why it might not be for you: There is a cafe across the street that produces some noise so that is something you’ll have to adapt to. Guests have also said that the air condition machine isn’t too strong since it’s old and the shower head holder is broken (this may have been fixed since then).

Size: 4 guests · 1 bedroom (1 queen bed and 1 sofa bed) · 1 bath

Location: It’s considered to be central but is a little less convenient than others as you’re a longer walk to Mercado station and is a 20 minute walk to the beach.

Amenities: Air condition, washer, iron, heating, hot water, towels, bed sheets, TV, crib, coffee maker, full kitchen, and street parking.

Wifi: Yes

Minimum booking: 2 nights

Price: Starts at $43 USD per night.

5) The Beach Apartment

alicante airbnb beach apartment accommodations

This is probably the best location you could hope for in an Airbnb rental in Alicante. Situated pretty much by the beach, you’re seconds from the main promenade that runs along the waterfront with access to all of the primary restaurants and bars.

Recently renovated, all the appliances and furniture are new which will make your stay quite comfortable.

While more expensive than the others, it’s still cheaper than many hotels in the city.

The apartment is modern and smart. It is located in the Old Town so there is lots to see and explore. As the streets are narrow, there is little natural light in the apartment, but if you are just using it for a base to explore Alicante then that shouldn’t be an issue. The hosts were fabulous; they went out of there way to communicate with us from pre-booking to post trip. – Guest

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

What we like about it: Killer location in this modern, clean, and comfortable apartment.

Why it might not be for you: The tradeoff of the great location is that it may be loud especially since there’s a lot of foot traffic on the street that the apartment is on and restaurants do set up their tables there as well. This is also one of the most expensive properties of this particular list.

Size: 4 guests · 1 bedroom (1 bed and 1 sofa bed) · 1 bath

Location: 2-3 minutes from the beach and right in the old part of the city.

Amenities: Air condition, washer, iron, heating, hot water, towels, bed sheets, TV, crib, coffee maker, and full kitchen.

Wifi: Yes

Minimum booking: 3 nights

Price: Starts at $74 USD per night.

Nearby are a ton of restaurants and cafes. There’s also the Mercado that’s 3 minutes away.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

What we like about it: Large apartment with many beds and rooms. The location is also fantastic where you’re close to the action but won’t be annoyed with street noise. The property is clean and modern with high-end fittings.

Why it might not be for you: None but in reading the reviews some guests have complained about other apartment units being loud.

Size: 8 guests · 3 bedrooms (3 queen beds and 2 single beds) · 2 baths

Travel Resources For Your Next Trip

If you’re in the process of planning your trip and putting together your itinerary, these are genuinely the best resources that the Going Awesome Places team stands by 100%.

Credit cards: Don’t get burned by hidden fees on top of terrible exchange rates. When we travel now, we use the Wise Card. Simply load it with the currency you need before you go and use it as a regular VISA or their digital wallet card. Use their free app to track how much you have and top up when you need to.

Flights: Of all the booking search engines, Skyscanner is the most helpful and easy to use thanks to their Everywhere feature. Kayak is also another that’s we will often check as well.

Car Rental: If you’re looking to save money, these car rental coupon codes will be a true game-changer. Otherwise, DiscoverCars and RentalCars are great places to start.

Rideshare: For new Lyft users, use code WILLIAM4825 to get 50% off your first 2 rides (max $10 USD per ride). Offer valid for 14 days after you take your first ride. For new Uber users, use code psuqbjg4d7rn for the same offer except it’s valid for 30 days.

Airport Parking: You’ll need a spot to leave your car at the airport so why not book a spot at a discount. Use code AWESOME7 to get at least $5 off at Airport Parking Reservations or Park Sleep Fly packages.

eSIM: Lately, we’ve really loved using eSIMs. We’ve tested several over the years and we have access to a few special promotions.

  • AmigoSIM – Use GOINGAWESOMEPLACES to save 25% off. Code is re-useable.
  • Gigsky – Use TANG149 to get $3 USD when you sign up, then use code GOINGAWESOME to save 20% on all eSIM orders.
  • KnowRoaming – Use code GAP10 to save 10%.
  • AloSIM – Use code GOINGAWESOMEPLACES to save 15%.
  • Airalo – Use referral code WILLIA9500 to get $3 USD credit on your first purchase.
  • UbigiAWESOME10 to save 10% on your first order.

Wifi Hotspot: We’ve been a huge fan of wifi hotspot devices such as PokeFi (use code GAP24300) because their rates are are hard to beat and it works globally. Solis is another that we recommend. Pros are that you can share the wifi with your whole group but cons are that you have to invest in a device and you have to charge it every night.

Hotels: Our go-to is Booking.com because they have the best inventory of properties including hotels and B&Bs plus they have their Genius tier discounts. Expedia is also worth using especially with their One Key rewards program which is basically like cash. The exception is Asia where Agoda always has the best prices. Always do a quick check on TripAdvisor as well.

Vacation Rentals: Your first instinct will be to check Airbnb but we always recommend checking VRBO as well if you’re looking for a vacation rental (now eligible for One Key).

Tours and Activities: When planning our trips, we always check both Viator and GetYourGuide to at least see what’s out there in the destination that we’re going to. They often have different offerings and prices so check both.

Travel Insurance: Learn how to buy the best travel insurance for you. This isn’t something you want to travel without.

  • HeyMondo – Popular insurance provider for frequent travelers and comes with great coverage and special perks. By booking through our link to get a 15% discount (from June 19-29)!
  • RATESDOTCA – Search engine Canadians looking for the cheapest insurance including multi-trip annual policies.
  • SafetyWing – A perfect fit for long-term nomads.
