Itinerary

Day 1

Transfer from Natales – Hike Estancia Lazo to Weber Bridge

  • 2 Hour Private Transfer
  • 5 Hour Hike, 13 km / 8 mi
  • 20 Minute Private Transfer
  • Night at Chile Nativo Riverside Camp (BL-D)

Early in the morning, your guide and private transfer will pick you up in Puerto Natales and take you to Estancia Lazo, a 13,000 hectare (32,123 acres) cattle ranch founded over a century ago which still operates today beneath striking views of the Paine Massif on the shores of Laguna Verde.

From here, we’ll hike into Torres del Paine National Park along a generally flat trail through peaceful stretches of native beech and coihue forests.

This area is teeming with wildlife. As you walk, watch for condors and caranchos circling the skies; guanacos grazing on the hills; and woodpeckers, owls, and lesser-known species such as the cachaña (Austral parakeet), peeking out from the leafy trees.

We’ll reach Honda Lagoon and continue on to the Toro Lake lookout (559 m / 1,834 ft.), where 360 degree views of mountains, rivers, lakes and glaciers await.

Take a moment to identify the Grey, Serrano and Paine Rivers, Serrano Valley, Mount Balmaceda and the Geike and Tyndall Glaciers before we make our descent to the Weber bridge, where a transfer will take us to our campsite along the shores of the Serrano River.

A freshly prepared welcome dinner awaits while we enjoy the precious views and fine company.

Day 2

Round-Trip Ride to Donoso Lookout

  • 6 Hours, Slow Riding, Trotting and Cantering
  • Night at Chile Nativo Riverside Camp (B-BL-D)

An adventure with a great variety of landscapes, riding through the characteristic pampas, mystical ñirre and lenga forests, the shores of the Serrano river, valleys and smooth sand banks. A special ride with beautiful views of the Paine Massif and the imposing Donoso Mountain.

Tuck in for a restful night in your private double deluxe tent after dinner.

Day 3

Transfer to Pehoe Lake, Round trip Hike to French Valley

  • 30 Minute Private Transfer Each Way
  • 35 Minute Catamaran Each Way
  • 7-8 Hour Hike, 17 km / 10.5 mi
  • Night at Chile Nativo Riverside Camp (B-BL-D)

Today’s destination, the French Valley, is a spectacular natural basin surrounded by peaks and hanging glaciers.

To get there we’ll take a short transfer to Pehoe Lake and cross it by catamaran. At the entrance to the French Valley – a glacial moraine – you’ll scramble over huge boulders and catch the first sight of the hanging glacier atop the valley.

From this point, you’ll ascend for an hour through a dreamlike Japanese garden landscape before arriving at the French Valley viewpoint (the “Plateau”).

Your reward is a heart-stirring bird’s eye view of granite peaks and hanging glaciers. To one side, the French Glacier and Paine Grande (3,050 m / 10,006 ft.); while to the other, La Espada, La Hoja, La Máscara and the main and north “horns” of Los Cuernos arch upwards.

In the upper section of the Valley, Cerro Catedral and Cerro Fortaleza loom like turrets above the landscape.

Take your time to have lunch at the viewpoint, surrounded by these imposing peaks and open skies. Our return hike is along the same track.

We’ll take the catamaran back across Pehoe Lake followed by a private transfer to Chile Native Riverside Camp.

Day 4

Full-Day Sea Kayaking Expedition on Grey Lake and Grey River

  • 30 Minute Private Transfer
  • 4-5 Hours Paddling, 25 km / 15.5 mi
  • Night at Chile Nativo Riverside camp (B-BL-D)

After an early breakfast your transfer will drive you to Grey Lake to meet your kayaking guide. Here, with views of Paine Grande and Grey Glacier as our morning backdrop, you’ll be briefed on kayaking safety and paddling techniques.

You’ll paddle Grey Lake for approximately 2 hours, weaving amongst the floating icebergs that have calved from the glacier and been whittled into natural ice sculptures by the wind and sun.

While paddling, take time to look around you: the granite peaks of Paine Grande, Cordon Olguín and Los Cuernos interplay beautifully with the water’s multiple shades of turquoise.

Leaving Grey Lake we’ll begin our descent of Grey River, which snakes through canyons bubbling with rapids and framed by steep rock faces.

Accompanied by views of the imposing Paine Massif, we’ll paddle for 25 km (15.5 miles) down Grey River until it joins the Serrano River.

After 4-5 hours of paddling we’ll arrive back at our campsite ready to stretch our muscles and prepare for dinner and rest.

Day 5

Round-Trip Hike to the Three Towers Lookout

  • 1.5 Hour Private Transfer
  • 8-10 Hour Round-Trip Hike, 22 km / 13.6 mi
  • 2 Hour Private Transfer (B-BL)

Our final day begins with a transfer across the National Park to the starting point for the trek to the three Towers.

Your hike begins with an hour’s ascent, following the Ascencio River into the Ascencio Valley.

Here we’ll stop to observe how the valley’s beauty unfolds with rich beech forests, glaciers and waterfalls.

Past this lookout point, we continue uphill, this time ascending a gigantic terminal moraine (a ridge formed at a glacier’s end point) where we’ll be rewarded by the arresting sight of the Towers themselves.

At this lookout point 900 meters (2,952 ft.) above sea level, we’ll rest, take photos and have lunch.

Our descent follows the same path and a private transfer will end our journey back in Puerto Natales.

FAQ's

Q: Where do I keep my luggage that I won’t need during my program while I am in the park?
A: The majority of the hotels and hostels will store luggage for their guests who are staying with them prior to and after their travels in the park. If not, we will happily store your luggage securely in our office until you finish your program. Since you will be staying at our Riverside Camp, you may also bring all your luggage with you if you wish.

Q: Should I tip my guide? If so – how much is appropriate?
A: Tipping can be a delicate subject and many different nationalities have different tipping cultures. Tips or propinas in Chile, are viewed as a reward for good service. When tipping, a good guide and guide assistance who does the job well, has good English and provides a great service, can expect 10 – 15 USD per person per day. It is usual to leave your driver or chauffeur a tip too. Normally around 5 USD per person.  Please find below a tipping guide:

  • Guides USD$ 10 to USD$ 15 per person, per day; to be given to your guides directly.

  • Staff (waiters, chefs,Housekeeping USD$5 per person, per night

  • Drivers:  USD$10 per person, per day; given directly to your drivers.

  • Porters: USD$10 per person, per day; given directly to your porter

These amounts are merely a source to help you or give you a general idea of what is normal or typical. Of course, tipping is always at the discretion of the group members as to what they deem appropriate for the service they received.

Q: What time will we finish our trek on the last day and arrive back to Puerto Natales?
A: Upon completing the hike to the base of the towers, your transfer will bring you back to Puerto Natales arriving around 21hrs. You should plan on staying in Puerto Natales the night of finishing your program.

Amazing trip! We joined the Torres Del Paine 7 day O trek tour - note that this tour is not a complete O Trek but skipping the part from Camp Frances to Las Torres, which worked in our favour as our holiday is limited and we won’t miss much. Our guide, Debbie was knowledgeable and amicable, and very passionate about hiking. Unfortunately I fell sick during the hike and wished to leave a day earlier than planned. Debbie and Chile Nativo quickly rearranged transportation for us and was very helpful. Throughout the whole process Chile Nativo was very responsive. We had a memorable journey and I would highly recommend Chile Nativo.

Fantastic experience! We were booked with Chile Nativo via Swoop and had a wonderful experience. Our guides, Tim & Lucile, were awesome. We really enjoyed their company. They were very knowledgeable about the region (the history, animals, landscape, etc). Highly recommend.

I booked the independent, self-guided Torres Del Paine trek with Chile Nativo’s help and was so glad I did. When I looked to book on my own, everything was all reserved in Torres Del Paine and Chile Nativo was the only agency that could help me find a spot still. To still be able to go on the trip when I wanted to go, to not have to spend so much time planning all the logistics, to get a local’s recommendations on the best way to do the trek…but STILL get to do the trek on my own was amazing and worth every penny. In particular Paolina at the agency was incredibly helpful. I would recommend this agency to anyone looking to hike in Torres del Paine.

Hiking in Torres with Pepa is like walking with your smartest and wisest friend. She has an incredible depth of knowledge in everything from mycology to government, from geology to history. She is fiercely passionate about conservation and our planet and has dedicated her life to making our world a better place. Our two porters Filipe and Bastian were both incredibly strong and highly professional. Always in the know on where to set up the tent, they picked the best spot in every site we were at. Also, they were an absolute blast to hang out with after the long days hiking. I cannot recommend this particular team highly enough and if you are passionate about the environment, making the world a better place, learning everything there is to know about glaciers, mushrooms, Patagonia, the history of Chile, magma intrusions and edible berries request them by name. Thank you to all three of you for making our experience so special and I hope our paths cross again.
