The way up is quite demanding, going down is even worse ;) ! All is worth doing as the peak and the view of the mountain ranges is great!!!

Visited Lysa Hora July 2014 with my wife. This is one of those places that is little known about by tourists as the nearest city is Ostrava which doesn't attract a large number of tourists from western Europe. Lysa Hora is essentially a large mountain located in the area of Ostravice, a town which is easily enough accessed by train from Ostrava although you will need to change trains for the last 10 mins of the journey.
The mountain itself is incredible on a sunny day, the smell of the surrounding forest and the clean air is refreshing. The ascent to the top isn't too taxing on the body, having said that you would need a reasonable degree of fitness as there are steeper parts and if I remember correctly it took us nearly 3.5 hours to ascend walking at a moderate pace.
The walk varies between Roads (at the base), dirt paths and rocky paths, so a comfortable pair of tough shoes would be preferable. Ensure to take water with you as you will get thirsty, there's a supermarket in Ostravice where you can purchase all your needs and there is also fresh water springs at the base where you can refresh yourself.
At the top there is actually a weather station and a little pub where you can purchase traditional czech meals (soups and such) and also different beers if you're feeling brave about the descent. It was amazing to sit at the peak eating my soup, sipping on my cold kofola and enjoying the vast views over Czech Republic and Slovakia.
We visited in July on quite a warm day but you definitely notice the temperature drop (5 degrees maybe) as you get higher up the mountain, but it wasn't a problem as the walking kept our blood pumping. In the other seasons I would dare say you would need proper walking gear and jackets.
If you ever get a chance to visit this place I highly recommend you do it!

Lysá Hora the highest peak of Beskydy Mountains. Great hike and unique experience during the whole year, you will meet kind people and on the top you will be rewarded with amazing views. When there are good conditions you can see Slovak Tatras Mountains and Czech Jeseníky Mountains. My favourite trail is from Ostravice. :)

A good hiking from Ostravice. It was sunny and a lot of runners were on the way to the top. I recommend it.

Yesterday I got to climb Lyse Hora, we gone from hotel Petr Bezruc. 5,5 km to top with 700 meters high. It was not as tiring as I expected. And the view worth really every drop of sweat.

Awesome! This is a great climb for cyclists to experience. It's a slow grind, but a rewarding experience. Unfortunately it was pretty foggy the day we decided to conquer it, so we didn't get a chance to see much. It looked as though they were building a hotel though, and there's a hut at the top where you can get a very limited (understandably) selection of food and cold beer. Would LOVE to go again.

We set out from Zlatník on Lysá hora. The hike was more difficult because we chose a hiking trail through the woods and along rocky paths, not the asphalt road. We had an amazing view of the landscape at the peak. Wow! ... And what's more? At the local snack bar we could reward ourselves with the golden drink Radegast and buy something to eat...
Remember to take plenty of fluids on the trip.

My Cousin and I had a great time hiking to the summit of Lysa Hora from the Hotel in the Valley. First off, be sure to wear the correct footwear. The trails up feature lots of jagged rocks and steep climbs. Secondly you might want to include a windbreaker / raincoat because the weather can change quickly in this part of the country and is famous for leading the region in annual precipitation. You will also want to bring up a bottle of water or two. It's a moderate hike up and is really beautiful when you get up to the ridgeline and offers plenty of opportunities for great photos. Two small Hospodas / Bars are on the summit featuring small menus with Czech Cuisine. I tried both. The Cabbage soup is great and the beer is cold. One last thing, a walking stick might also be a good idea to help keep your balance on the steeper hills.
