Peaceful in Paradise
We always look for seclusion and beauty when we come to Hawaii. This gorgeous property certainly fit the bill. If you like the calmer, less sunny side of the Hawaiian islands, this one is definitely for you.

Breathtaking surreal location
The beauty of this home is unmatched. At times you feel like you are the only people left on earth, surrounded by a giant rainforest and roaring waterfall. The soaking tubs are so dreamy - day or night. At night you can listen to the frogs and the waterfall and see every star that has ever been in the sky. Jeff is an amazing host and you can tell he loves this place and wants you to love it as much as he does. We will be back - probably more than he wants us to be.

Adult summer camp
We were a family of 5 with members ages 27-64. We loved the screens. It felt like summer camp. It actually gets chilly about 2am. When the house heats up midday, move to the breezeway in the center of the house. Stargazing on the lawn was magnificent. We laid on beach towels, and were delighted with the abundance of shooting stars. Bug repellent suggested. The house was a perfect destination and walking in the neighborhood a joy. Perfect spot to bond with family.

About the host

Owners are Jack and Jane Stevenson. Jack is a fourth generation Hawaii resident. His great grandparents came from Germany in 1882, straight to Kauai. Jane has lived in Hawaii over 50 years. They grew up on Oahu and spent 14 years on Kauai before moving to the Big Island when they purchased the property and created “The Falls at Reed's Island”. They fell in love with Hilo immediately. Hilo feels like Honolulu did in the fifties. They love the verdant green side of the Island and all the beautiful rivers and streams. They live in an historic house just five minutes from The Falls. Jack is very active in the Rotary Club of South Hilo. Jane spends time on historic preservation. Jack is an avid scuba diver, who only recently sold his dive boat.

Why they chose this property

The property was a private vacation home designed and built by two Architects, from San Francisco. Upon the death of one the property was put on the market. We purchased the property because of its simplistic beauty, and by the way it has a 25' waterfall right in the yard. Jane and I converted it to a vacation rental.
